Spring cleaning, rusty spots and trunk repainting

I wanted to fit the FMIC, but it was too little time, so on a sunny weekend I decided to do some paint jobs. I already had ordered two cans of "Rust Bullet" from USA from an alltrac.net member. A year ago I did already paint the side  underpanels, but the paint didnt hold very well for the salty winter, so a few spots appeared. Lots of pics:

Rusty spots painted

Painted all rusty spots and other places that had lost color or were to be repainted. with Rust Bullet

Rust Bullet

Rust inhibitor. Ordered from USA. We will see next year how it performs :)

I treated the spots with sand paper and applied the Rust Bullet in two layers, leaving it dry during the night between the layers. After that I applied a few coats of black paint. Looks good for now.

And of course, the trunk.
Rusty trunk

I did intend to paint it last year. So i got the paint off, etc. But didn`t paint it. so this year it got some rust already.

Trunk with Rust bullet applied

Trunk cleaned and Rust bullet applied. I applied only one layer of rust bullet.

Trunk repainted

Trunk repainted. I put 2 layers of black paint over the "rust bullet" layer. Looks good :)

Wooden spare wheel cover

Wooden spare wheel cover, My dad created this, since the old cover was already torn in pieces from rust and humidity and oil (0.5 liter of WD40 in trunk :D)

Trunk contents

This is all stuff I had in trunk, also that huge HKS IC wrapped in white. The car seems to go 2x faster without all this junk!

Spring cleaning

While painting, I decided to take parts off and try to fit the FMIC

st185 stock oem front bumper

st185 stock oem front bumper removed

st185 stock oem bumper support

This is stock st185 bumper support or crash bar. I intend to remove it or trim the inner part at least when I get to fitting the FMIC. If I eventually do remove it, I will probably go with RC/CS bumper, since the support holds the beautiful fog lights. The stock bumper is ugly without the fogs.

Air box bottom cut

I cut the stock air box to see if it gets air flow better to filer or increase the sound. But I couldn`t notice any difference. And I do have another air box, so I wasn`t worried cutting this one ;)

FMIC test fitting

While waiting for the paint to dry I removed front bumper and fenders and tried to test the fitment of FMIC. There are many options to route the IC piping, first I need to move the battery and create a straight intake and other stuff.

Front bumper removed, radiator, oil coolers

Bumper removed to test fit the FMIC.

Plastic side panels

I bought a pair of plastic side panels and painted them.

Side panel fitted

Side panel painted, dried, and fitted.

Thats it for now. I did manage to do some other things on the car, but I`ll post another time.
