ARC top mount intercooler

The stock (ST185 oem) intercooler is pretty restrictive when going over stock boost limit. It's efficient but not the best inner design. I decided to try ARC top mount core.

Toyota original 3sgte and ARC top mount air-to-air intercoolers. See the fins on the original core, i removed the top fins, cause they were bent. it looks worse but performs much better with straigth fins under than top bent ones that restrict air..

had to do something with this original intercooler bracket. it has lots of sensors under it, so it should stay there to protect from rain, etc.

Air guide

original air guide. did some damage to it while removing. it doesnt fit good with the guide. but its worse without it in terms of air travel.

broken bold. couldnt remove the air guide from hood scoop.

I cut some foam to fill up the space behind the core, so that less air flows around the TMIC.

diy IC sprayer

this is top mount DIY IC sprayer. it feeds from headlight washers. the yellow foam is to help seal the Air flow between IC and hood.

Overall I cannot tell how big is the difference between the original and ARC TMIC. The car needs to be tested on dyno. Also since I run small boost (~10psi)  the stock core could flow this amount also I guess, but at full boost it runs better after 5k rpms..
But it should be an improvement anyway. Just looking at the core designs, it`s clear that the ARC core is much better manufactured for air cooling efficiency. Still it suffers from the heat soak (it`s  above engine), so an electric fan could be an improvement on this core as well as the stock one
